Kevin Hart headlined the 17th annual ESSENCE Music Festival in New Orleans where he performed before 50,000 fans at the New Orleans Superdome.

During his performance at the Superdome, Hart reportedly included pyro flames into his routine:

“Do y’all see my fire?” he asked an eager crowd, referring to the dazzling pyro flames shooting from the stage floor. “You gotta be a big deal to have fire, people!’ he said, admitting that the idea was inspired by Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Watch the Throne” concert. He declared himself the first comedian to add pyro to his routine and would randomly cue the flames to remind the crowd just how awesome he is.

The comedian also cracked jokes about himself:

Dressed in a black and white Louis Vuitton tee-shirt and black jeans, Hart quickly got in his zone, relying on the self-deprecating humor that’s made him one of the current kings of comedy. He spent the next hour telling a compendia of tales about everything from his penchant for lying (“It’s a disease,” he joked), male friends who can’t keep secrets, and his horrible luck with bodyguards – one once told him to play dead during a shootout at a club.

He also celebrated his 33rd birthday on Friday (July 6) with a star-studded bash hosted by the magazine.

Celebrities such as Denzel Washington, Trey Songz, LisaRaye McCoy, Michael Ealy, Tisha Martin-Campbell, and more helped Kevin celebrate his birthday at The Saints Hotel.

In part 1 of The Real Husbands of Hollywood skit, BET Awards ’12 host, Samuel L. Jackson, takes over the home of BET Awards ’11 host, Kevin Hart, in this hilarious skit featuring Anthony Anderson, Faizon Love and Fabolous!

We’ve learned that BET is bringing “The Real Husbands of Hollywood” to TV!

The insanely popular skit starring comedian Kevin Hart aired during the 2011 BET Awards show and also featured Nick Cannon, Bobby Brown, Nelly, Jermaine Dupri with guest appearances by ‘Basketball Wives’ star Tami Roman and comedian Anthony Anderson.

The show will be called “House Husbands” and will be branded as a “scripted fake reality show”. And yes, Kevin Hart will be starring in it also! No word on who else will star or when the show is set to air.

Here’s BET’s description of the new show:

The “housewives”don’t even know what it means to be a real Hollywood husband. The pressures of spousal stardom are almost too much to bear. Watch the House Husbands air it all out in this semi-scripted reality TV spoof of every fill-in-the-blank Wives franchise.

“Marvin’s Room” is the latest track from Drake aka “Wheelchair Jimmy.” Imagine my surprise when I learned Tami’s daughter, Lady Jazz, decided she wanted to jump on the track of the hour.

Le Boudoir, focuses on the trials and tribulations of dealing with another 15 year old girl who refuses to leave Jazz and her man alone. (Isn’t this what Maury is for?)

Although she’s not as entertaining as her mama, her lyrics are comical – “He’s the socket, I’m the plug” #LilWayneTaughtMe.

Michael Ealy, Kevin Hart and Morris Chestnut on the set of "Think Like A Man"

2011 seems to be Kevin Hart’s year. In April, it was announced that he’d been cast as the lead in “Think Like A Man”, the movie adaptation of Steve Harvey’s New York Times bestselling book, Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man.

More recently, it was his recent gig as host of the 2011 BET Awards and his role in the runaway hit, The Real Husbands of Hollywood, that really got people buzzing about Hart. The comedy sketch has sparked an official online petition to get the show on the air. (Shameless plug, I know )

Now, Hart is gearing up to release his third comedy special, Laugh At My Pain, this fall. His latest material marks yet another milestone in his career because this is the first time that his standup routine will be hitting the big screen. (His previous material, I’m A Grown Little Man (2009) and Seriously Funny (2010) were released on DVD.)

The Laugh At My Pain tour made stops in 90 cities, grossed over $15 million in ticket sales, and became one of the most successful comedy tours in history.

The movie will debut on September 9 exclusively in AMC theaters. Advanced tickets can be purchased here.

Will you be heading to theaters to watch it?

Rumors are swirling around that Bravo may be picking up ‘The Real Husbands of Hollywood’ and turning it into a full season set to air in the fall. Bravo currently airs the wildly popular ‘Real Houswives’ franchise in addition to other successful reality shows such as ‘ Bethenny Ever After’, ‘Project Runway’ and ‘Top Chef’.

We’ve received many e-mails stating that even if BET doesn’t move on this, there are writers working on developing a full season RIGHT NOW and fully prepared to pitch them to other networks.

For Bravo, a venture into a reality comedy show like RHOHLWD would make a lot of sense as it doesn’t veer too far from their current lineup.

We’re surprised that BET hasn’t made an announcement regarding whether they’ll be picking up the show or not.

Calls to BET representatives went unreturned and Bravo folks aren’t talking either.
